I think I want a free estimate. How does that work?

It’s simple. Contact me by phone or by filling out the online scheduling form and I will be happy to arrange a convenient time to meet with you at the proposed job site, whether it’s your home or a place of business. During the estimate, we’ll go over the details of the job you are interested in having done, and within 48 hours, I will email you an exact, all-inclusive price on what it will cost to do the proposed work for you. If you accept, just let me know and we will schedule a start date for your job!

I’m afraid of my house turning into a construction site. Also, I have kids, pets, etc! How disturbing will the painting process be to our living environment?

The Shepard Painting Solutions motto is “Dedication without interruption.” What that means is: we treat your home the way we treat our own homes – with respect. Our goal is to complete the job for you quickly, professionally, and with as little disturbance as humanly possible. On jobs that require us to be there for multiple days, rest assured that work areas will always be cleaned, neatly organized, and covered so that nothing is left in your way when we leave for the day. All paints, brushes, and materials are sealed at the end of the work day for the safety of your family and pets.

Is the paint you use safe? I’m concerned about my family breathing in paint fumes. What are VOCs?

Over the past 17+ years as a professional painter, I have done A LOT of research on the gambit of products available, not only to contractors, but also to consumers. Products are constantly being revamped and reinvented in attempts to be more “green” and to provide a higher safety rating for us all. However, the simple fact of the matter is that there is no paint in existence that is 100% safe to breathe – but some are safer to use than others. Almost every paint company on the market today pushes at least one product line that claims to have “zero VOC”. What is VOC you may ask? VOC stands for Volatile Organic Compounds.

Volatile Organic Compounds are essentially the fumes that are emitted into the air by the paint during the curing (drying) process. So, zero VOC is great then, right? Nothing bad to breathe in, right? In theory, yes. Practically speaking though, it is never actually zero VOC. Although the can of paint you purchase says “zero VOC” on it, it is referring to the base you purchased, minus any tint. Tint, inherently has a very high amount of VOC in it. AND the darker the tint, the higher the VOC. So, the moment you put tint into the paint can to mix up that favorite color, you’ve now added VOCs back into the equation. Is it at least good to start with zero before tinting? Of course, but just keep in mind that as soon as you color your paint, it is no longer zero voc.

The good news: With proper ventilation and application procedure by a professional, there is nothing to worry about at all. Although a mild paint odor might linger for a few hours after the job is completed, it will dissipate shortly, with no health risk to you or your family.

What products do you use? Can I pick colors from another company?

We use the very best product lines from Sherwin Williams, including SuperPaint, Duration, Resilience, Emerald, and Pro Classic. As for color options, you can pick any color offered by any company, and we can have it located in the database so it can be mixed up in the product we prefer to use and can guarantee. However, if you prefer another brand, we are happy to accommodate!

What kind of payments do you accept?

We have the ability to accept almost any form of payment, including: check, cash, credit card, PayPal, and Venmo.

Is there a deposit required? Why?

Yes. we require a 50% deposit on jobs that will take more than 2 days. That deposit helps us cover my up-front costs with purchasing paint and materials. The remainder is due when the job is complete and only upon your 100% satisfaction. *I’ve never had an unsatisfied customer and I’m committed to making sure you’re pleased with the results of our work!
